Listening to: Jerk It Out, by The Caesars Drinking: vanilla cream coffee
So I’ve decided dentists are okay, probably because I was lucky enough to find a smart one who actually listened to my glum monologue about how I can take 8 shots of novocaine and still feel the drill. He perked up, announced that I probably had a rare branching of nerves in my jaw, put the needle in a different place than the usual one… and for the first time in I-have-no-idea-how-long I didn’t rip the leather upholstery off the chair with my fingernails while getting my tooth filled.
Lovely.
Anyway, I’m betting that story is only interesting to me, so I’ll stop now. 🙂
In other news, the revisions are moving along nicely, if at a somewhat glacial pace. It’s taken a hell of a lot longer than I thought it would, but I feel pretty good about them so far, so I guess I won’t complain.
And of course the obligatory meme question of the day..
How do you map out locations, if needed? Do you have any to show us?
I scribble, mostly. Not always, just recently.
I used to have lovely (and free!) program called AutoREALM, back when I was first writing SWORD and then SONG and I needed to find a way to keep a whole fictional country straight in my head (it’s fairly difficult to plan the meeting of armies, I found, without a visual aid of some sort). I modeled the maps as best I could off old medieval maps, and learned quickly that there’s a reason for those classes in graphic arts that I never took: it’s not easy, drawing with a mouse.
Eventually I realized I was spending more time doing that than I did writing, and got rid of the program. Which means, alas, that I have no means of posting the files here, since my computer has no idea what to do with them.
