More About Me

I write. I also read, eat, sleep, sneeze, work, cook, bathe, watch TV, and go out to bars.  It really is a very exciting life, but you have to be looking closely.

Ok, so semi-seriously: I write. I like doing it, quite a bit, or I wouldn’t. I have a fabulous literary agent (wheee! still new and wonderful), Shana Cohen of Stuart Krichevsky Literary Agency, and hope to have a fabulous publisher one day in the not-too-distant future. I live in Maine, where we still occasionally get enough snow in one afternoon to bury cars and shut down businesses, and strangely, I like that (though ask me when I’m shoveling my car out of a snow bank and I may tell you differently). I went to college in upstate NY, which I quickly discovered is actually far colder and snowier than Maine, and since graduating have lived in NH, MA, and VA – and despite an adolescent determination to only return to this state on holidays, here I am, inexplicably content to be here. It’s remote even when you’re in a city, and the closest Melting Pot is 2.5 hours away by train or car, but I like it: I’m not hugely social anyway, and I don’t enjoy smog.

I have a day job, and mostly I like that too, which makes me one of the fortunate few, I suppose – and then I have what I’ve known since AP English in high school was going to be my real job one fine day, and which I currently get done between the hours of 5:30 am and 7:30 am and 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm daily, not counting weekends, snuggle time (minus pipe, of course), and unexpected (or expected) social events.

This schedule requires, among other things, extraordinary patience from family members. And coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.

Outside of writing, day jobage and outdoorsy activities I have a wacky-fun type family I actually want to hang out with (when, of course, I’m not writing), and a husband -see above pic – I not only want to spend the rest of my life with but who puts up with my schedule (and my whining about recalcitrant characters). Which I suppose makes me one of the extremely fortunate few.

Oh, and Her Dogginess, queen of the four-footed creatures. She’s no Killer Yap, but her breath is formidable with or without the addition of gin.

If that wasn’t enough for you, here’s 11 random facts about me for your reading entertainment.
